PEACE OF MIND

By Jim Morris

Keeping a secret is often nothing more than a coverup for sins. Alcohol and drug addictions are hushed into secrecy. Immorality is whitewashed. Theft and robbery are kept under-the-table. Violence is concealed. At every turn life’s dirty little secrets trap those who hold them.

The cost of secret keeping is heavy. Guilt, shame and fear are the companions of sinful secrets. There is no peace for the secret keeper, only the fear of being found out.

Do you want peace of mind? The cure is to bring shameful secrets out into the open. Only known problems can be fixed. Psychiatrists and psychologist stay in business trying to help folks expose their secrets and deal with them properly. Crocodile Dundee had a novel solution to free oneself from the burden of secrets. He said about the folks in his town at Walkabout, Australia, “Anyone’s got a problem they just tell Wally. He tells everybody. No more secrets. No more problem.”

Do you have too many secrets? Why not decide to change your life right now? Tell Jesus your secrets. He will help you make things right. Jesus will remove your fear and give you peace.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
