I Will Catch You

by Jim Morris

My brother and I both stared up at an awesome stone tower. Actually, it was only a facade at the entrance of the La Salle’s River Boat Ride at the Six Flags amusement park in Texas. However, to a couple of kids it was real enough to hold pirate treasure.

Rick began climbing the stone tower wall. Then I followed beside him with my mind set on reaching the top first. I was long and lanky. I pulled ahead of my little brother quickly. I looked over and saw that he had quit the race and was heading back down.

“Ha!” I yelled. “I’m going to get the treasure!”

I reached the top but there was no treasure. The tower only had some old lights and trash. Feeling disappointed I looked out the tower window to head down. It was too far!

“DAD!” I screamed. “Get me down!”

My dad came running. Finally he looked up and saw me. He calmed me down and told me to slowly come down the same way I went up.

“I’ll fall dad!” I cried.

“Trust me, son. I will catch you,” he said.

I knew my dad was strong and that he loved me so I went down.

Ever get yourself in a tight spot? Trust God. He is strong and He loves you. He will catch you...

“ Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5).
