Bullet Proof

By Jim Morris

“My new Acme Bullet Proof Vest is the best ever!” beamed Sally the security officer. “It can stop a high-powered rifle shot at point blank range!”

“Wow, Sally,” said Jan. “You are really protected! That vest will save your life.”

Sally continued to testify to the virtues of her bullet proof vest. She even handed out flyers and tracts to the other security officers. Then a strange man came to the walk-through scanner and the alarm went off.

“Step back and empty your pockets, sir,” warned Sally.

“No,” said the man nervously as he pulled out a pistol and aimed it right at Sally's heart.

“You'll have to do better than that you psycho!” taunted Jan. “HA! She has a bullet proof vest, right, Sally?”

“Yes ... but I never put it on ...” moaned Sally.

The protection of the bullet proof vest is only available when you “put it on.” In the same way, the protection of Jesus Christ is only available when you “put Him on in baptism.” The apostle Paul explained the relation of faith and baptism in this way. He said to the Christians in Galatia, “For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized (meaning “immersed”) into Christ have put on Christ.” (Galatians 3:26-27).

Armor up folks! Put on Christ today. Don't walk around in Satan's line of fire unprotected!
