“Daddy,” asked the little girl as she walked beside her father in an unruly crowd. “Why are all of these people so dirty and so mean?”
“Because many choose to be that way, Sweetheart,” answered the father. He paused for a moment and bent down to look into his daughter's puzzled face. With a gentle hand he smoothed her hair and gazed deeply into her golden, brown eyes. She had her father's eyesradiant and beautiful.
“I don't think they like us very much, daddy,” she said. “I'm afraid of them.”
“My child, do not be afraid. I am always right here beside you,” he reassured her.
A smile crossed the father's face as he pondered what troubled his little girl. He had such a kind and gentle face. Strength, courage and wisdom radiated from it. Suddenly, the little girl threw her arms around her father's neck and held him tight. “I love you, daddy,” she confessed.
The father kissed his little girl and said, “I will always love you and protect you.” He stood up and they continued their walk through the crowd. Let us also walk with the Father who loves us.
