At Just the Right Time. . .

Timing is everything for chefs, cooks and bakers. They know when to remove their masterpieces from the oven “at just the right time.” Too much or too little time could ruin a meal. It could end up burnt or half-baked.

Timing is everything for coaches, players and athletes. They, too, know the meaning of making their moves “at just the right time.” Running too slow or too fast can make the athlete miss the ball, the shot, the play. It could mean the difference between winning or losing the game.

Timing is everything for each of us, too. If we think about it for a moment, we can recall when we have said or done something good “at just the right time.” Remember when you gave the right gift, said the right word or did the right deed at just the right time that encouraged someone to praise God for your thoughtfulness, grace and love? Timing is everything. It can make the difference between heaven and hell.

Most of all, timing is everything for God. “But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons” (Galatians 4:4-5). Therefore, in the name of Jesus, let us continue to give, forgive, repent and restore “at just the right time.”
