Last week my son Matthew was checking the grounds in preparation for mowing on Wednesday. However, he stumbled upon a little orphan kitten who was abandoned in our yard. He was all alone and the ants were starting to get to him. We searched for the mother but she never showed up. Then we decided to give the little guy another chance at life.
The kitten is just a tiny fella - about "hand-sized." My wife, Linda, and Matthew have been feeding him around the clock with an eyedropper. We bought a kitten nursing bottle and special milk but he is not big enough for the bottle yet. Every four hours or so they go through the same routine to get some nourishment into him. He cries at the most inconvenient times! Yet, for his sake they forsake sleep and other activities to keep him alive. . .
It amazes me that young Christians are very much like this little kitten. Scared and totally dependent on others to meet their spiritual needs. They need pure spiritual milk to grow so their lives are not at constant risk. They cry at the most inconvenient times! They need folks around them who will forsake sleep and other activities to keep them spiritually alive in Christ. . .
"Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good" (1 Peter 3:1-3).
"Dear Father, help us learn to love one another more perfectly. Help us to minister to one another in ways that will bring You glory. In Christ's name, Amen."
